🔥 FIRST PITCH — Ohtani: The Drama
Is Shohei Ohtani’s off-field life starting to feel like a soap opera?
Last year, it was his interpreter and the $17 million gambling scandal. This year, it’s a $240 million luxury housing lawsuit in Hawaii.
It’s been a circus since he arrived in LA — rock-star treatment, cameras chasing his every move. On the field, nobody’s better: the most electrifying player in the game.
Off the diamond? A different script — part courtroom drama, part reality show, with plenty of cliffhangers still to come. Stay tuned.
⚾️ What’s Inside This Week:
👍 THE GOOD — Married in a Minute
When your team stinks, it’s up to the promotions crew to save the night.
👎 THE BAD — Dodgers / Yankees / Mets
Nearly $1 billion in payroll. How’s that working out for ya?
 🙈 THE UGLY — Heliot Ramos’s Toss
A routine outfield play turns into a Little League blooper in an 11–1 loss.
 🍔 BONUS BITE — 911 for a Burger
Yes, a fan actually called 911 when he couldn’t claim a free burger.
🎶 ONE FOR THE ROAD — Renegades: The Musical
Because hot dog races just weren’t dramatic enough.

💪 THE GOOD — Married in a Minute
Being a Chicago White Sox fan in 2025 isn’t easy. Yeah, it’s cool that the Pope is your biggest fan. But another 100-loss season is looming… and the stands are half-empty.
So the team’s promotions crew went full Bill Veeck. Last weekend’s tribute to the former owner and showman had a petting zoo, a circus and — the pièce de résistance — a “Married in a Minute” ceremony officiated by Sox legend Ron Kittle.
Two fans tied the knot in 60 seconds flat, proving that in Chicago, even true love has to hustle before the bullpen blows it.
For one night, the South Side embraced Veeck’s philosophy: if you can’t win, at least promise to love, honor, and entertain.
👎 THE BAD — Dodgers / Yankees / Mets
They say money ain’t everything, right? The Dodgers, Yankees, and Mets are proving it. Between them, their combined payroll is nearly $1 billion (cue the Dr. Evil laugh).
How’s that working out? Let’s just say… rocky.
The Dodgers went from coasting in the NL West to scrapping with those pesky Padres. The Yankees are clinging to third place in the AL East, praying for a Wild Card spot.
And the Mets? They’ve poured $765 million into a certain right fielder and are bailing water like a sinking dinghy.
Proof that money can’t always buy happiness — or October glory.
🙈 THE UGLY — Heliot Ramos’s Toss
Ugly with a capital U.
Wednesday in San Francisco, Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos turned a routine outfield toss into an adventure. After a drive by Padres’ Manny Machado bounced off the wall, Ramos scooped it one-handed and fired toward the infield… except he spiked it straight into the grass.
The ball skipped, bounced, and rolled helplessly while Fernando Tatis Jr. trotted home on the gift.
One of those days for Ramos — and the Giants — where the only thing uglier than the throw was the scoreboard.
 🍔 BONUS BITE — 911 for a Burger
This one’s too rich to ignore — the Milwaukee Brewers hit 12 straight wins, and a local burger joint promised free hamburgers to celebrate.
One problem: the promotion didn’t start until the game was officially over. But that didn’t stop one impatient fan. When he couldn’t claim his free burger, he called 911.
Can’t make this stuff up.

🎶 ONE FOR THE ROAD — Renegades: The Musical
Move over, seventh-inning stretch — the Hudson Valley Renegades just redefined “between innings entertainment.”
Last week, during their game against the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Renegades staged baseball’s first-ever in-game musical. Seven original songs, performed in 90-second bursts between innings, with actors belting tunes from the tops of the dugouts.
The plot? Two Renegades employees navigating crowd chaos, with plenty of dugout drama sprinkled in.
Broadway? Not quite. But in the wacky world of minor league promos, it was a standing ovation. 🎭⚾️
